Ishikawa International Cooperation Research Centre (IICRC)

About IICRC

The Ishikawa International Cooperation Research Centre (IICRC) is a Special Programme of UNU-IAS. The centre was jointly created on 3 October by
United Nations University (UNU), Ishikawa Prefectural Government, and Kanazawa City to implement joint projects through UNU-IAS. IICRC is being currently hosted within Ishikawa Foundation for International Exchange to develop and promote international cooperation in the fields of science, technology and culture. The mission of IICRC is to provide local input into UNU efforts on sustainable development and international cooperation.

Activities at IICRC
Our main activities include analytical research and organising international conferences, seminars, and lectures. Since September 2004, the Centre has shifted its research focus and approach into policy-oriented research on environmental issues with specific focus on Sustainable Management of Satoyama Heritage. In addition to holding international symposiums, seminars and other events for increasing awareness and enhancing the intellectual exchange on global environmental issues, IICRC hosts postdoctoral fellows through UNU-IAS to provide opportunities to young researchers to conduct research in collaboration with host researchers from Japanese universities.
