Seminar Description
Language: English only
Ever since the publication of "Life Between Buildings" in 1971, Jan Gehl's observation and study of human beings and their interaction with the built environment has influenced architects and planners all over the world. His forty-year study of central Copenhagen has helped give the city international recognition for its livability, and prompted the application of his theories to other projects. This lecture will discuss Jan Gehl's approach in Copenhagen, New York City and other projects, including the rebuilding efforts after the earthquake in the city of Christchurch, New Zealand.
